This is how it happened and how things work in Sweden
1. when Olivia was born, we were told by barnmorska, who is specialized in baby shower, that water is not dangerous for baby’s ears since they were soaked in mother’s stomach all the time before they were born.
2. before checking out form the hospital, I confirmed with another barnmorska that it is totally fine if water goes inside the ears during shower. No special care is needed.
3. after 2 weeks shower, I noticed Olivia began to scratch her ears a lot, especially the right ear. I checked behind the ear and found the skin was broken. I brought up this with barnmorska, almost everytime when we met. One time, our barnmorska even called for a senior barnmorska to check it out. I was told to just make sure the skin behind the ear is dry then everything is fine.
4. we cut away some hair around the ear area in order to dry the skin easily. After 3 more weeks, the skin healed. But the scratching didnt stop.
5. I brought up this again with barnmorska yesterday because I suspected something was wrong inside the ear or somewhere else on the body is painful for her.Barnmorska said it should not be earache and that can just be a habit, if she eats and sleeps normal, i dont need to worry.
I asked more times and was told to contact the doctor if I want to be sure.
6. We went to Solna Vårdcentralen today and doctor checked her ears. Both ears are infected and both ear channels are swollen!!!!
The doctor said we can not let water go inside the ears when we show her, and water is the cause of the inflammation!!!
7. I bought medicine from Apotek, prescribed by the doctor. One hour later, I got a phone call from the doctor the medicine he prescribed is wrong, because he didnt realize how young Olivia is. Is it? I have to tell Olviia’s personal number to the reception before we saw the doctor. Didn’t the doctor check?
8. so I went back to Apotek and tried to buy the new medicine prescribed by the doctor, but I was told, there is no prescription in the system for Olivia.
9. I go back to vårdcentralen, want to talk to the doctor. Reception said he was busy. I asked what he was busy for? The answer is he is busy for lunch. Ok….I wait. Later reception girl asked me if this is about the baby. Then I am allowed to see the doctor right away.
10. I went inside his room, saw papers from Seat24 and Hotels.com lying everywhere on the desk. Aha,he is busy for his trip…
but I was told: the fire alarm went on, so all the electronic system was shut down and all the staff was outside, that is the reason why the prescription does not exist.
11. he said he did send the prescription electronically. And I told him it does not exist. He was helpful enough to write it on the computer and printed it out for me. Now everything should be fixed, according to him.
12. so now it is the third time that I am in Apotek today. After queuing for 20 mins, I was told the file number on the prescription is wrong….so I can not get the medicine.
13. Another 10 mins passed, the girl in Apotek can not reach the doctor so she did some research on internet, and now she find the correct number herself.
14. From 9:30 am to 2:00pm, finally I got the medicine, which Olivia is really not happy with. She made face when we feed her and vomit out majority.
